The driving test centre is at Room G10, Globe House Business Centre on Moss Bridge Road (OL16 5EB), just off the A664 Kingsway. From here, routes typically move quickly onto Wallhead Road and the Kingsway corridor, where multi-lane roundabouts, lane discipline and steady speed control are tested early.
In the town itself, Drake Street climbs steeply towards the centre, with parked cars, pedestrian crossings and the need for accurate clutch control on the gradient. Yorkshire Street and the surrounding one-way systems demand careful observation and positioning, while the area around Rochdale Town Hall and the bus station often features independent-drive sections. Sudden gyratory and sections of Roch Valley Way introduce faster flows and more complex merging.
Heading east and north-east, routes commonly use Milnrow Road and Elizabethan Way towards Milnrow and Newhey. These roads shift between dual-carriageway sections and narrower residential streets, with roundabouts that require clear signalling and anticipation. Further out, the climb towards Littleborough along Halifax Road and Albert Royds Street brings longer gradients, tighter bends and the change in character as the landscape opens towards the hills. Middleton, to the south, shares similar urban and suburban patterns and is fully part of Rochdale Metropolitan Borough, so learners living there regularly train on the same core routes that feed the Moss Bridge Road test centre.

Having left an instructor in search of someone who could be better suited for myself, whilst also having my test in the next couple of months. I got in contact with Charlene and explained the situation to which she was happy to take me on. She worked at improving my confidence on the road which helped me massively in anticipation for my test. I started my lessons with Asma In july (not done my theory yet), I passed my theory in September and within a month my test was booked and i was prepared for my test and passed first time, she is very patient and understanding and helped me become comfortable and confident on the roads.
