With over 20 years of professional driving instruction experience across the UK and USA, I am Dan Ison, founder of Harwood Driving School in Bolton. I am widely recognised as one of the highest graded driving instructors in the UK and lead a dedicated team of DVSA-approved driving instructors who deliver high-quality automatic and manual driving lessons throughout Greater Manchester, including Bolton, Bury, Radcliffe, Burnley, Nelson and surrounding areas.

As a fully DVSA-approved Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) on the official register, I hold the DVSA fleet badge and am an ORDIT Registered Trainer. I achieved the highest possible score of Grade A 51/51 in the DVSA ORDIT 1 exam covering instructional ability (Part 3), and I also hold a Grade A in the prestigious DVSA Cardington Special Test for advanced driving (Part 2). This makes me one of the very few Government-graded double “AA” driving instructors in the UK. I further hold the DIA (DIAmond) Advanced and Special tests.

My civilian advanced driving credentials remain unmatched: I hold a perfect ROSPA Gold certificate – the most demanding advanced driving qualification achievable outside the police – and I am a qualified ROSPA Tutor, training candidates to ROSPA Gold level in association with advanced police driving examiners. I am also a Roadcraft specialist and former ORDIT consultant who trained emergency response blue-light driving instructors for the North West Ambulance Service.
